Dr. Arffa completed a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology and School Psychology at Indiana University in Bloomington and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Management (Mental Health Policy) from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Arffa works with a diverse population, including children of all ages and non-elderly adults. Her specialties include concussion, prematurity, pediatric medical and neurological disorders as well as ADHD, learning disabilities, autism, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, and severe mental illness in children.
Dr. Arffa has a specialized interest and expertise in managing complex cases and helping children return to school after concussion. She has long enjoyed working with dyslexic individuals, and helped co-found a charter school for Dyslexia in the Pittsburgh region. She also has conducted forensic evaluations for civil proceedings.
Dr. Arffa especially enjoys teaching, training, and mentoring young people in the field of psychology. She has developed training programs for doctoral and postdoctoral students in pediatric neuropsychology. She has been involved on continuing education in a number of capacities.
