Lisa Hammel

Lisa Hammel, along with her husband, Dr. Scott Hammel, founded the Neurobehavioral Institute of Austin to introduce an approach to mental health practice that provides many services in the comfort of one clinic. Lisa Hammel is an education and parenting consultant specializing in working with young children and families to help bring a balance of love and respect back in to parent/child relationships and helping to identify and correct learning difficulties.  Lisa also assists parents in identifying preschool and elementary schools which would be a good match for their children’s particular strengths and weaknesses.  She has worked with children of all ages, from infant to middle school for over 30 years as a teacher and as the founding director of St. David’s Episcopal Day School and Director of Wee Wisdom Preschool in Austin. She previously served as the International Youth Coordinator for infants through 12 years old for a nondenominational religious organization.

Lisa holds a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and a Master of Education degree from Xavier University.  She has her Texas Teaching Certificate for Early Childhood through fourth grade and is a certified Montessori Elementary teacher.  Lisa has been helping parents and educators at Neurobehavioral Institute of Austin for over ten years, and is available for the following services for both educational and parenting purposes:
